You know how some brands in one country are less than stellar and in
other countries they are quite ok or even fabulous?
HSBC UK take a bow for all the wrong reasons. For example.
Well, 7-11 is Japan is AWESOME. If you want a plate of afternoon tea sandwiches
with the crusts cut off, it’s the place to go. Or a fresh salad. Or a Japanese noodle dish that you could throw into a microwave and that doesn't taste like it was made by a robot.
And they are everywhere! Either a tiny kiosk in a train station or on the middle of a block, or a larger shop with a huge car parking lot at the edge of town. Almost every second street has a busy 7-11 with beer, and yogurt, and hot chicken pieces and cake - fresh and inexpensive. Everything but fruit, sadly, although you can get tinned fruit in jelly. The Japanese love anything in jelly for dessert and it's quite interesting to see what that might mean.
Not a stale cup of coffee or tasteless muffin made last month in sight. 7-11, we will never say a word against you from now on, even if we don't tend to visit you when we are at home. Your dainty tea sandwiches are our go to train snack in Japan and we bless you with every bite.
